Hi,people!Today we are going to learn science-the circulatory system! So,lets get ready! There will be quizzes later on,so read on!
What is the human circulatory system?
Our blood contains red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets. Each of them have their own functions. The points bleow will state the functions of each component.
There are 3 types of blood vessels in our body. They are the capillaries, veins and arteries. The points below can tell us about the functions of these 3 blood vessels...
What is the human circulatory system?
- The circulatory system consists of our heart, blood vessels and blood.
- They transport oxygen, digested food and water from the intestines to all parts of the body and transport waste materials and carbon dioxide out of the body.
- Our heart is about the size of our fist.
- There are 4 chambers in our heart. They are the left ventricle, left atrium, right ventricle and right atrium.
- Our ribcage protects the heart and the heart can be found in between the lungs slightly to the left.
- Our heart pumps blood all the time, asleep or awake! If our heart stops beating,it means we are dead.
- In order to pump blood, our heart contracts and relaxes continuously without any control.
- Whenever our heart contracts, blood flows out and whenever the heart relaxes, blood enters the heart.
Our blood contains red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets. Each of them have their own functions. The points bleow will state the functions of each component.
- Platelets-They help the blood to clot whenever we fall down and have a scab or have a cut.(i.e. helps blood to stop bleeding.
- White blood cells-They fight infection(caused by bacteria and viruses) and gets rid of useless blood cells)
- Plasma-They help us to carry blood cells, platelets, vitamins, minerals, hormones and other useful things in our body.
- Red blood cells-They carry oxygen and carbon dioxide and has haemoglobi
There are 3 types of blood vessels in our body. They are the capillaries, veins and arteries. The points below can tell us about the functions of these 3 blood vessels...
- Arteries-Our arteries carry oxygen rich blood from the heart to all parts of the body.
- Veins-Carry deoxygenated blood from other parts of the body to the heart.
- Capillaries-They are tiny tubes that connect the veins and arteries together,so,they carry both oxygen and carbon dioxide(deoxygenated blood).
